This temporary closure aims to ensure a smooth and successful event and will affect Terra, Alif, Vision, Women’s Pavilions, Stories of Nations, and Latifa’s Adventures. Public access will be restricted from November 18 to November 29 to accommodate necessary changes and preparations.

A Global Climate Assessment

COP28, scheduled from November 30 to December 12, is a significant international event. It is set to provide a comprehensive assessment of global progress since the adoption of the Paris Agreement in 2016. The conference will focus on determining the measures required to bridge existing gaps in achieving the agreement's goal: limiting the rise in mean global temperature to 1.5°C. This reduction in temperature rise is essential to substantially mitigate the adverse effects of climate change, making COP28 a critical platform for addressing the world's climate challenges.

The modifications and preparations undertaken during this closure period aim to create an environment conducive to productive discussions and meaningful outcomes during the conference.

Fulfilling Commitments to Climate Mitigation

By hosting COP28, the UAE is reaffirming its commitment to addressing climate change and advancing sustainable development. The conference's objectives align with the Paris Agreement's goals, emphasizing the urgency of collective action to limit global warming and protect the environment. Expo City Dubai's temporary closure for COP28 preparations reflects the nation's dedication to fulfilling these commitments and driving positive change on a global scale.

Anticipating a Successful COP28

With Expo City Dubai's proactive approach to facilitating COP28, there is optimism surrounding the conference's potential to yield significant results in the fight against climate change. The event will bring together world leaders, experts, and stakeholders to assess progress, set ambitious targets, and explore innovative solutions. As COP28 approaches, the international community looks forward to meaningful discussions and concrete actions that will contribute to a sustainable and resilient future for all.
